Can’t we just take still images from the video?
This is a common question from marketing teams.
The answer is yes, you can.
But most of the time, it’s not the best idea.
Here’s why:
1️⃣ It saves time
When you take photos during filming, you see them right away.
You can choose the best pictures on the spot, get approval on the spot, and move on.
(If you wait and try to pull images from the video after the shoot, it takes more time to go through the raw footage and look for good stills.
And the result cannot be guaranteed to be as good.)

2️⃣ The pictures look better and are more flexible
Video cameras are made for movement, so pictures can look a bit blurry.
Photo cameras are made to take sharp photos with higher resolution.
This gives more flexibility when you use the images across platforms, from big prints to websites, LinkedIn, etc.
In short:
Yes, you can take pictures from a video.
But they won’t be as sharp or flexible across platforms.
If you want guaranteed good-looking content for all platforms,
and a time-efficient process, it’s better to plan for both video and photos on youre next shoot.
